
Chief Cash began as a volunteer firefighter at the age of 16 with the Wake Forest Fire Department. In 1986 Daryl became a paid full-time firefighter and rose through the ranks to become a Battalion Chief.
He has served in all types of emergency service roles including with the Wake Forest Police Department as a Telecommunicator, Falls Fire Department, Youngsville Emergency Rescue Diver, and Rolesville Fire Department Reds Team Emergency Rescue Diver.
He specializes in emergency services radio communications both on the job and for fun. As an amateur radio operator (K4DCP) he has had the opportunity to explore more sides of radio communications than just state-operated systems.
In 2019 Chief Cash joined the Wake Forest Fire Department as a Tactical Flight Officer and is a critical flight team member.
Chief Cash says, “as I get older I can’t do as much of the feet on the ground work, so I have taken to the air.”
